Compare the agreement with the car
Review the sales description beside the vehicle. Was a particular tyre type, extra winter set or specific wheel design promised? Check those points at handover. A substituted vehicle or changed equipment may carry different wheels even if the model name remains the same.
Do not assume wheels visible in an advertisement automatically formed part of the agreement. Establish what was actually agreed. If the wording is unclear, resolve it before completing collection. A factual enquiry prevents different expectations emerging only at the first seasonal change.
Look around every wheel
Inspect accessible tyre and wheel areas around the car. Note visible damage and unusual differences. Condition matters on a used vehicle, while obvious concerns on a new car should also be raised. A clean sidewall or tyre dressing says nothing about the complete technical condition.
The handover inspection cannot fully examine internal areas. Have doubts assessed professionally. Record findings with the seller on the handover document. Photographs should clearly identify the vehicle and particular wheel. A general statement that everything was viewed does not explain a specific unresolved issue.
Extra sets and accessories
If another wheel set is included, count the wheels and compare their identification with the documents. Establish that they are intended for the vehicle. A set left in the boot by a previous owner is not thereby proven suitable. Non-standard wheels may require additional documentation.
Ask about the locking wheel-bolt key, sensors where applicable and associated information. Locate the puncture equipment too. Missing special tools are often discovered only during a later wheel change. Collection is an easier time to identify gaps and agree how they will be supplied.
Prepare for your own use
Ask where the vehicle pressure information is and how the monitoring system is operated. If a more heavily loaded journey follows immediately, establish the corresponding setting. The configuration used for a short demonstration does not automatically cover your later use.
Keep the handover record, purchase documents and wheel information together. Promises concerning outstanding items should be clear and verifiable. Ownership then begins with a traceable starting point. Later questions can be discussed using concrete agreements and observations rather than only memories of collection day. Share relevant details with other drivers so that an extra set or missing accessory is not misunderstood after the paperwork has been filed away.
